Having an industry certification demonstrates your expertise to clients, coworkers, and peers. Getting an IAQ certification can help you expand your services and open doors to larger opportunities. Other benefits include discounted insurance rates and usage of logos in advertising.

Unfortunately, there are several indoor air quality and mold certifications from which to chose.  We recommend certifications through ACAC for several reasons:

  • They are one of the few organizations that meet the strict requirements of the Council of Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards
  • They are independent of the organizations providing exam preparation.  Preparation courses (like ours) do not just “teach the test”
  • According to the definition in National Organization for Competency Assurance’s (NOCA) Standard 1100, ACAC offers true “certifications” whereas most other organizations offer mere “certificates” (although they erroneously call them certifications).  Only those with certifications should confer initials after the person’s name.
  • ACAC is the unification partner of the Indoor Air Quality Association, the largest membership organization dedicated to the indoor environment.  This industry unification occured in 2005 and involved the following organizations: Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), ACAC (previously American IAQ Council) and Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO).  All of the certification programs for the three organizations are now under the charter of ACAC.
